Letter to Investors
Intent
When I decided to pursue investment management as a career, I did so not just to be challenged intellectually or to earn a living; I did so because I also wanted to help people. The landscape for investment services is complicated, confusing, and ridden with conflicts of interest. It can be very hard to find help – and to feel comfortable with services and advice being offered. Areté seeks to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Purpose
Areté is all about quality. While I focus on imbuing each aspect of Areté's service with the highest standards and best practices, I am also keenly aware that what matters most is that you actually benefit from these efforts. In pursuing this goal, I ultimately decided to start with a clean slate and re-examine every aspect of the investment business. This decision has freed Areté to consider a wide variety of new and better ways of helping investors.

Access
I know hiring a money manager is a big decision. As a result, I do everything I can to provide you with good information with which to make that decision. Areté provides newsletters, investment research services and references to other useful resources so you can develop a sense of how I think about investing and how I think about the investment business. In addition, you can always call or email if you have questions.
Vision
When I made the decision to found Areté, it was for reasons far greater than just doing something on my own. I had a vision of creating a new and better version of investment management. This vision starts with you - and everything it takes to give you the best chance of getting ahead with investing. It combines a variety of high quality service components and leverages technology so as to provide an extremely cost-effective package. I hope you like it.
